How to maintain your cars and make it last longer

There are some people who love their cars. They take very good care of their cars just like how they take care of their babies. Then there are those people who just ignore it and just consider it as something they use to get to somewhere.  They just use it to get around in.  For those second group of people that is a wrong decision. And since it is a big investment people should take care of it by maintaining its parts.

As mentioned above people spend a lot of their money on buying cars. And since they already spent that money they should also take care of their cars so it can last for a long time.  All my clients with my San Diego auto repair shop know this.I always remind them all the time that they need to make their cars undergo maintenance regularly. If they take good care of their cars then it can last longer and they can use it for a long time. And by ignoring and neglecting it they are risking their cars and themselves.

If the car is already a used one then the current owner must double his/her effort in maintaining for it to last longer.Especially if they don’t know how it was maintained by the previous owner. If it is already an old car it might even need a smog test.If they only make their cars undergo maintenance after they have seen the results of a smog test then it can lead to more expenses especially if it fails the test.  I have seen this time and time again in the San Diego smog check shop that I run.If they just took the time to maintain their cars regularly then they could have saved a lot of money.

Last thing would be to take care of your brakes regardless of its state whether it is new or not.The brakes are one the most important parts of your car.It will save your life when need be.But it can also drain your money if you neglect them.  Most customers are shocked with San Diego brake shop repair prices after they have failed the test.Once again a little maintenance here and there would have saved them a lot of money.

How to not lose money in auto repair

All of us know that it is expensive to have our car fixed and maintained. While it is still new repairs and maintenance are not that needed. But as it ages it will need more attention and maintenance. So let’s look at the ways to avoid spending too much when going to an auto shop.

In my San Diego auto repair shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.Things like paying for something way over its real price or getting billed for repairs the car doesn’t need happen all the time.So what could be done to avoid these things happening to you?Maintaining your car in a very good shape is the best thing you can do.  Don’t wait till a problem happens.Maintain it in its best condition.

One of the best ways to keep your car running at its best is to have it undergo regular tune-ups. This prevents any problems sneaking up on you.It will also keep the engine in tip-top shape.  By keeping your engine tuned up you can avoid costly problems. One of the things caused by not properly tuning up your car is not passing the smog test.  I have seen older cars in my San Diego smog check shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test. This will lead to other problems.

Another thing that gets neglected when it comes to our cars are the brakes. The brakes are the part of the car that can surprise a lot of people.  It surprises them when they see how high the bill is to repair.  Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brake shop when they see how expensive it can be.  But if they had just taken care of their brakes they could have avoided it.

The bottom line is take care of your car if you want to avoid getting ripped. For shops to say that a regularly maintained car will have less is wrong.

What to do to preserve your car

One of the things that gets so often overlooked is a car’s maintenance. That is the wrong thing to do because we are so dependent on our cars. Because not properly maintaining your car will lead to many problems. Problems that will make you spend a lot.  But also problems that will hurt you when you don’t have a car to use.

Let us proceed to the steps in taking care of our cars. This is from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company.  You want to keep your car running good as a whole.

The first thing we want to discuss about is how to keep your car running smoothly. It is a simple step but it will make your car running smoothly. You will have a car that is running smoothly and problem-free for a long time.  If you don’t do it you will have problems like a failed smog check.  I have seen it time and time again in my San Diego smog check shop.

One simple way of maintenance is to change the oil of your car.Undergoing tune ups is another must-do.  By doing these two things you will keep your engine running smoothly.

Second thing you want to do is maintain your brakes.Aside from saving you money, this will be more important for the safety of your passengers.  I have seen a lot of accidents from failed brakes doing business with my San Diego brakes shop.Another thing you should keep in mind is checking and keeping the brake fluids filled.Proper usage of the brakes should also be put to mind. Instead of suddenly breaking, you should press it slowly a good distance from the object in front of you. Observe these steps and you’ll be surprised how long it can last.

Following the steps mentioned above will help you in a lot of ways.  You’ll keep your car longer and running smoother and without problems for a long time.

Transmission problems evidences

The transmission is one of the most expensive parts of a car to be repaired. Most of the cars that are sold nowadays are built well. But it will be damaged eventually and it can be very expensive to fix.So you should make sure that you regularly maintain the transmission of your vehicle. With that in mind let’s look at some signs of transmission problems.

First thing that can signal a problem with the transmission is by looking at the fluids.  If you go to check the fluid with a dipstick it can give you a sign. If you find that the fluid is low it could be a sign of a leak.A sure sign of a problem is if the liquid isdark already and has a burnt smell.  So to make sure your car doesn’t suffer any severe transmission damage always check your fluids. If you find any of these signs take it into a auto repair shop.  I catch a lot of transmission problems early in my San Marcos transmission repair shop with these signs alone.

Another sign of problems for your car’s transmission is when you shift it into drive and there is a delay. If you shift it and it does not get into gear immediately then that’s a sign of a problem. They call that problem a delayed engagement. This could be a sign that the transmission is too worn or some other problem. I have all my clients take it into my San Marcos auto repair shop anytime they get the delayed engagement problem.

Last sign of problem that I know of is when you shift the gears and it is jerky then that would be another sign of problems to come. All the shifitng done when one is driving should not be jerky and should not slip.  This is the sign of a worn transmission if your car jerks everytime it shifts gear. I catch a lot of problems early in my Carlsbad transmission repair shop when this happens.By detecting problems earlier, a customer can save more money instead of spending it on repairs.

Find ways to save money with your car

Today most Americans are trying to find ways to save more of their money. With the state our economy is in, you can’t really find fault in them.  They look at cutting expenses.Or they might not go out as much. They are not purchasing things they have no use with. But I would like to examine a way that might not have crossed your mind. That way you can find with your car.

When people think of saving money with their cars, they think of gas. They try to figure out ways to use less gas and spend less on gas.But what I would like to point out that if your car is properly cared for you will save more in the long run.  I know this for a fact running my San Diego auto repair company.

With cars in general a lot of people don’t even consider maintaining it. Unfortunately the only time they do think about it, is when it is too late.  They wait for something to go wrong or break down. But from what I have witnessed doing this and waiting ends up making the auto repair expenses more costly.

Take your brakes for instance. If you can keep your brakes properly maintained you can prevent expensive repairs.  If you don’t you can  have expensive discs you have to repair.Or you might find the need to have the brake shoes replaced.By using your brakes properly and then maintaining them you will save yourself some money.  So take it in to a brake shop like my San Diego brake shop and you can find out if you need to do anything.Things like the brake fluid and checking it to make sure it has enough.

Or most people don’t bother getting their car tuned up.They disregard the engine’s maintenance.  They don’t change the oil as much as they should. This leads to the engines running bad in your cars.  So bad that it won’t pass a smog test.  From what I have seen running a smog test San Diego shop, if you fail a smog test, this can lead to expensive repairs just to get it to pass.

But if you do the proper maintenance you will keep your car running well.  The engine will run smoother and properly.Go and wait too long and it will end up costing you more money in the long run.

Hopefully this shows you that you can save money by maintaining your car. Spend a little now to save more in the future.

Things you should know about maintaining your car

In this day and age everybody needs a car.  Some people need planes.  But for most a car is essential for living. It gets people to and from work.  It takes people to go shopping. It transports people to their schools.  So what I would like to share is the 3 important parts of keeping your car in order.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company. The two areas we need to take a closer look at is the health of your car and your overall safety.

So when it comes to safety you can put all types of maintenance as being critical to safety. But there is a part of your car that is critical to safety.  That part is your brakes. With cars being able to travel much faster than before, good brakes are essential for safety. With people being distracted with so many things you really need good brakes.By taking the proper steps to care for them you will always have the ability to brake in time.  Well taken care of brakes save lives and money.  I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brakes shop.

In reference to keeping your car healthy the critical thing to remember is to keep your car maintained.  Some of the important things to do are oil changes and tuneups. By making sure you always get the oil changed you make sure that your cars runner smoother and longer.By not making sure your oil is always changed you can end up ruining your engine.

Another important thing you have to do is make sure you get regular tune ups.If you can do that you will be able to keep your car’s important functions taken care of.By performing this step you will have a car that runs smoother and cleaner. If you fail to do this you will have a car that doesn’t run very well. Some things that can happen when you don’t do that is a failed smog test.  Most of the cars that fail in my San Diego smog check shop are the ones that didn’t take care of those things.

So by making sure to accomplish this you will be ensuring the safety of your car and you and your loved ones.

With that being the case most Americans will have to keep all their cars much longer. When you do keep your car much longer it will need more maintenance. The better you are able to keep maintenance on your car will dictate how much longer it will last.  So I would like to offer a couple of tips from my experience owning a San Diego auto repair company.

One of the items that is easily overlooked is keeping your car running clean. Why is this important?Because you can’t keep your care running efficiently this could lead to the failure of the smog test.If you can’t pass the smog test, this can be the start of some expensiver repairs.  I have seen this time and time again from doing smog test San Diego.

All you have to do is make sure you change the oil and oil filter regularly. Also be sure that you are able to get the car in for regular tuneups.

How to save more money in a used car

Well the decade of wealth and exuberance is gone. For quite a few Americans those types of luxuries like new cars are now gone. Now when a family is in need of a new car they are forced to look into buying a used car. This is made clear by all of the finacial woes the big three car makers are experiencing. There sales have gone way down.

But families still need transportation.  But when money is tight families have to choose the cheaper alternative.  That alternative is used cars.

As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.Because when you are making a purchase of a used car, the last thing you want is a lemon. So by making sure there is proper inspectino performed, you can avoid most expensive repairs.

So when you are examining the used cars, take in mind these 2 things to look for.First you will want to inspect the brakes.  We do San Diego brakes in our shop.  So I know first hand that brake repairs can become expensive.  If you purchase a car that the brakes weren’t maintained it could become expensive.  Last thing you want is to have to replace the entire braking system. So be sure you have good brakes.

Second you want to make sure it is running clean.Another way to say it, can it pass the smog test.  In my business I do smog test in San Diego. The last thing I am sure you want to happen is to buy a car that is in need of expensive repairs.  Especially if those repairs involve emission problems.

If you purchase a car that can’t pass a smog test that isn’t good.  It is a sign that the car wasn’t taken care of.  Most likely they didn’t do oil changes or tuneups. These could be the beginning of a lot more issues down the road.

If you just check out these few items you can save money. By not checking you can be in for some major repairs.  When you are trying to save money I am sure you don’t want that.

Why maintaining your vehicle saves you money

In this economy we are in we need every possible way to save money. It does not take a rocket scientist to notice that a lot of Americans are suffering during this economy. But rather than whining about things we can seek out many more ways to save money.

So I would like to offer some perspective from a San Diego auto repair shop owner. Now you may say to yourself that there will be bias but hear the argument first. After your reading of this you are going to see that it is sensible and money will be saved.

One of methods of saving money is to try and keep our cars for longer periods of time. In the height of this boom economy when everybody was benefiting people would just trade their cars all over the place. They would just trade their cars as soon as it was too old.  So in reality most people never even considered maintaining a car.

Well in the shape the economy is in, that is not a luxury for most people now. Most everyone will not be able to afford going out and buying a new car in these days.  People have to keep their old ones.  What that means is they will have to maintain their cars.

One of the major items of maintenance is being certain you are able to pass a smog check.Once you have an older car it will be a required law.If you can’t pass the smog test that may cause very expensive repairs.  I know this first hand running my San Diego smog check shop.

There are some things you are able to do to help make certain you pass the test.  You can always keep your car tuned up.You can make certain you change the oil filter and oil.You can check to see that the muffler works good with no problems.

This is the area where you may lose some money.  If you fail the smog test you could be in for a lot of money in repairs.  So by making sure you follow these maintenance procedures so you can save money.By doing the right things in maintaining your car now you will save yourself from major repairs later.

Don’t forget that you have to maintain your brakes as well.  With my experience with our San Diego brakes shop this is important as well. By ensuring that the brakes pads you have aren’t wworn down you can make your disc brakes last longer. Not having it maintained can be the start of some expensive repairs.Listen to these instructions and you should save money.

Tricks to passing a Smog Check

In our modern times, the auto is an essential part of life just like food and shelter. And the way the economy is currently, everyone wants to keep their cars a little longer.

Well when you find this happening and your car is older, it will be time to learn some things in regards to car maintenance.  I have learned them from owning a San Diego Smog Check shop

One of those things is when your car needs a smog check. Until your car hits seven years old, most people don’t even think about it.

But be warned, if you do fail the smog check, what was supposed to be a small $50 smog check suddenly turns into a huge auto repair bill.

When you need your vehicle to pass a smog test so you can renew your vehicle registration, here are some tips you can take so your inexpensive smog test, can pass with flying colors.

So before you visit a smog test San Diego only center follow these tips.

First, be positive that your vehicle is running correctly.  If you feel the vehicle is not running right, immediately take it to a auto repair shop and have them find out what is wrong.  Then fix it, prior to a smog test.

Second, is an easy one but necessary, take your car for a drive.Remeber when you are trying to pass the smog check, you vehicle’s burning of the fuel needs to be efficient and produce as little smog as possible. When you don’t take the time to warm up the car, these causes the car not to have the correct combustion.  If that happens, you stand a chance of failing.Just take it for a drive for 15 minutes or so and you will get your car to run optimally when it is taken in.

Third, add fuel additives.  You do this whenever you fill your car up with gas.You just add some to the gas in the gas tank. What’s going to happen is this gets the emmission levels lower because it cleans the intake of your car and exhaust paths. This makes it possible for the fuel and air to freely flow.

Fourth, inflate your tires to proper pressure.  This little tip will help your vehicle drive with greater stability and accuracy during the smog test. This greatlly improves the emmission’s overall output because it helps the engine maintain a steady load.

Finallly, change your oil.If the oil in your car does need to be changed and is contaminated, this can be a cause of failure when you take it for a smog test. Contaminated oils are high in hydrocarbons and that could cause the failed test.

Follow these simple tips and you will surely pass your smog test with flying colors.  Take it from my experience running a San Diego auto repair service shop.
